My career path has been an unpredictable one, but one I fully embrace. I consider my wide-gamut of experiences to be one of my greatest strengths and has leant itself well too my current role as an Instructional Designer at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. As an ID, I never know what kind of project I’ll be working on next so I keep my toolbox ready and my mind open.

    • English Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher at Divine Child High School | August 2014 – June 2020
      • Co-lead educational technology facilitator during COVID-19. Partnered with administration to author school-wife policies of accessibility, asynchronous learning, and best practices for trauma-informed teaching. Developed and provided training to academic staff throughout the pivot to online nearning.
      • Created an Educational Technology Professional Learning Community (centered on TPCK framework) for 6 staff and personally supported their progression through Apple Teacher Certification, resulting in all 6 teachers successfully completing their certificates in 2019.
    • Assistant Coach of the Forensics Team | August 2014 – May 2021
      • Coached students in public address and literary interpretation. Students have earned individual state championships in Sales Speaking, Oratory Speaking, and Broadcasting. DC Forensics won Class B state championships from 2010 to 2018.
      • Coordinated team logistics for 40+ students and 10+ coaches that included students transportation, individual student practices, communication, and judging at tournaments.
  • Teach for America: Detroit, MI
    • Manager, Professional Learning Community | September 2018 – June 2020
      • Created interactive professional development sessions focusing on literacy and content pedagogy for first and second-year teachers.
      • Collaborated with TFA Detroit’s staff to revise TFA course materials, analyze corps members’ classroom data, and construct responsive professional development aligned with quarterly school year deadlines.
      • Provided individual support for corps members during the school year, connecting them with content resources, technology tools, and community organizations with individual follow-up throughout the year.

      • Selected from approximately 50,000 applicants nationwide to join national teacher corps of recent college graduates and professionals who commit to teach in urban schools and rural schools across the nation.
      • Engaged in professional development activities to develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve significant gains in student achievement, including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, individual and group reflections, readings, and learning teams specific to Social Studies/English.

      • Developed a state- and Common Core-aligned blended-learning curriculum for U.S. History, Civics, and World History, highlighting one to one Chromebook applications.
